Environmental / Recycling / Re-use Policy
It is our policy to carry out our service in the most environmentally friendly manner possible with our vehicles working in different areas each day and therefore not travelling large distances to collect from one home.
This is not only reducing our carbon footprint but helps to create a more sustainable project with lower fuel running costs. In partnership with local companies we are able to recycle all of the following items :-
We are able recycle all of the following items :-
- Glass / China – All glass such as shelving, drinks glasses and jugs etc. if not able to be sold in-house are sent to made into aggregate for roads.
- Paper – It is our policy for all confidential information found either to be returned or shredded to protect our customers. Shredded paper is then sent for recycling.
- Cardboard – All cardboard that we come into contact with is collected from our premises for recycling.
- Electrical Items – We collect and transfer all un-reusable items back to C.A Sites ready for transferring to recycling centres. We separate all TVs, Monitors and Fridges to enable there safe recycling due to harmful gases.
- Metal – All scrap metal is reclaimed from items such as sofas and beds and then sold to a local registered scrap metal merchant..
- Wood – all wood from furniture and other household products that are not deemed fit for re-use is sent via a skip for recycling and turned into new furniture and products for the building trade.
- Polyester – All material reclaimed from dismantled sofas and mattresses are used to make pet beds by a local company.
- Textiles – All clothes and bedding etc.. which are collected or dropped off are currently sent to third world countries.
- Homemakers operates an in house policy of reducing its own waste and therefore we recycle all our own cans, glass bottles, paper and are always looking for ways to reduce our waste.
